Dear Quilly Girl,
The holidays are upon us! It feels like just yesterday we were saying what we are thankful for around the table and now we’re less than a week away from the holidays. Finals are wrapped up with a bow and we’re starting to feel that holiday joy again no matter how the tests went. They’re done!! With all the busyness of school on pause, you finally have a moment to holiday shop. I don’t know a holiday season where I haven’t been late to start shopping and somehow it always gets done. No need to join the holiday craziness, check out our Holiday Gift Guide for your Bestie: Last minute edition. Because we get it and we’re a little behind too, shhhh.
Some of us are natural gift givers all through the year and another thoughtful gift is no sweat. Some of us dread gift giving holidays because even picking out gifts for our closest friends and family is hard. Almost all of us are trying to find something thoughtful without breaking the bank. No matter your gift giving style, don’t worry, we’ve got inspo for you. Whether your gift is big, small, simple or fancy, your bestie just wants something that shows you’re thinking of them and that you get them. Gifts don’t have to be extravagant to be meaningful.
So let’s get into it! Looking through our list we’ve been looking for something cute for our sweet friend, something practical for our reliable friend, something cozy for our calm friend, something exciting for our adventurous friend and something personalized for our sentimental friend. Your friend group may consist of similar characters.
The sweet friend: the ray of sunshine every group needs, always there to cheer you up, bringing a positive attitude to every situation. She loves cute things and you want something that shows her how much you appreciate her positive energy. This friend deserves some little things to brighten their day the way they brighten yours. Things that come to mind are little stuffed animals or decorative pillows for their bed, maybe a sunshine, rainbow or nature theme. A little collection gift is nice, a basket of their favorite candy, snacks, drinks, candles and fuzzy socks. Little things for them to enjoy through their day.
The reliable friend: she’s been called the mom of the group, always prepared with exactly what’s needed in her purse, someone you can trust and always shows up for you. She loves anything practical and useful, you know she’s the type of person to hold onto gifts for a long time. Maybe she doesn’t treat herself enough and deserves some time to put her feet up. This friend deserves a gift that gives her some time off. Things that come to mind are the things you never think to buy yourself but you are always excited to receive. I’m envisioning a spa basket: face masks, bath bombs, some herbal tea, a special cup to drink it out of, a candle, maybe some fuzzy socks. A gift that says, let me take care of you this time.
The calm friend: she’s the peaceful energy every chaotic friend group needs, always bringing that balance, sweet and unbothered. She lives her life at a very mellow level except on select weekend nights. She is very go with the flow and your wingwoman on every plan. She deserves a gift that shows you appreciate her calm, here for a good time energy. Things that come to mind are an aromatherapy diffuser with some relaxing, fresh scents so she can make her space as calm as she is. A nice journal with a nice pen is also a great gift for such a mellow, thoughtful person. Gifts that show her you get her personality and really appreciate it.
The adventurous friend: she’s the needed energy in your group, the one who rallies the troops for the next adventure and loves having experiences. She’s helped make so many college memories happen even when she’s tired. She always adds some extra laughs to the friend group hangouts and gets you trying things you never would have before. She deserves a gift that compliments her adventurous spirit. Things that come to mind are experiences she can have, outdoor excursion gift cards are always nice for things like rock climbing, ziplining, kayaking and more. Travel or adventure books are good too, to help her plan her next adventure. Gifts that show her you see her risk taking side and appreciate the side it brings out in others.
Lastly, the sentimental friend: she loves the memories you’ve made together, always capturing photos, reminiscing on good times. She keeps the adventures alive long after they’ve happened, she’s the glue that keeps the group together and everyone appreciates it. She deserves a gift as sentimental as she is. Things that come to mind are scrap books and photo books of your time together, something for her to look back on. Framed pictures are always nice, bonus points for including multiple photos and writing something on the back of each photo. Handwritten cards also go a long way with friends like this. Gifts that say thank you for being my friend.
I hope this list helps you brainstorm and find some special things for your besties. At the end of the day, your bestie is just going to love that you thought of them and that you get them. I better get back to shopping myself!
You’ve got this Quilly Girls,
